Yamaha YAS480ID Alto Saxophone
The Yamaha YAS-480ID Alto Saxophone is a versatile intermediate-level instrument designed to bridge the gap between student models and professional performance. Combining Yamaha’s renowned build quality with an ergonomic design and a responsive, expressive tone, the YAS-480ID is an excellent choice for advancing students, serious hobbyists and players looking for a reliable instrument with room to grow.
The YAS-480ID features a gold lacquered body and keys, giving it a classic appearance while providing a bright, responsive playing character. Yamaha’s carefully designed keywork offers a comfortable, natural feel, while the adjustable thumb rest allows players to customise their hand position for improved comfort during extended playing sessions.
A standout feature is the 62-style neck, based on the neck design found on Yamaha’s professional saxophones. This provides a more open and expressive response, helping players develop greater control over dynamics, articulation and tone. The saxophone also features a high F# key, extending the instrument’s upper range and providing additional flexibility for advanced repertoire.
The YAS-480ID is also designed with future customisation in mind. Its custom-style neck receiver allows players to use a compatible Yamaha Custom Z or Custom EX neck, providing an upgrade path as their playing develops.
