The VOX Cambridge50 is a forward-thinking modeling guitar amplifier that combines modern digital flexibility with authentic tube response. Powered by VOX’s Nutube technology and a 12-inch Celestion speaker, it delivers powerful, dynamic tones with the classic VOX character. Its open-backed cabinet enhances clarity and projection, while an intuitive control layout lets you quickly dial in sounds or store your favorite settings as presets. With 11 amp models, 8 built-in effects, and an onboard tuner, the Cambridge50 is versatile enough for virtually any musical style or application.

At the heart of the amp is VOX’s proprietary VET (Virtual Element Technology), which goes beyond standard modeling by recreating not only classic amp circuits but also the interaction between the wooden cabinet and speaker. In addition to iconic sounds like the AC30, the Cambridge50 offers a broad range of tones—from vintage tube amps and modern high-gain stacks to rare boutique designs. A dedicated LINE input further expands its usefulness, making it suitable for acoustic-electric guitars and keyboards.

The Cambridge50 includes a comprehensive effects section essential for tone shaping. Modulation and delay/reverb effects can be used simultaneously, with four types available in each category for a total of eight effects. A convenient tap button allows intuitive control over delay time and other parameters. Effect options include Chorus, Flanger, Org Phase, Twin Trem, as well as Analog Delay, Tape Echo, Spring Reverb, and Hall Reverb.

A Celestion VX12 speaker maximizes the amp’s 50-watt output, while the open-back cabinet design produces an open, articulate sound with the depth and presence expected from a 12-inch speaker.

The Nutube 6P1 vacuum tube delivers genuine tube distortion, compression, and playing feel, faithfully capturing the responsiveness of traditional valve amps. Unlike conventional tubes, Nutube technology is lightweight, maintenance-free, and cost-effective, making it ideal for modern players who want authentic tone without the drawbacks of classic tube designs.

The Cambridge50 also functions as a USB audio interface, allowing you to record its Nutube-driven sound directly to your computer. Integration with the Tone Room editor/librarian software gives access to deeper parameters and preset management, with support for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android devices.

For live performance, the optional VFS5 footswitch enables hands-free program changes and expands available program memories to eight, providing reliable control on stage.

Bundled with JamVOX III modeling software, the Cambridge50 enhances practice and recording on your PC. Features include the GXT function for isolating or removing guitar parts from songs, loop playback, tempo adjustment, and full ASIO driver support for use with DAWs and other amp simulators.
