The Strymon Compadre Compressor & Boost is a studio-grade front-end tone shaping pedal designed to refine your guitar or bass signal before it hits your amp or effects chain. Combining two distinct compression voices with a fully independent analog boost circuit, it functions as both a precision compressor and a flexible clean/dirty boost in a single compact unit. The result is enhanced clarity, improved sustain, and a more controlled, mix-ready tone while preserving the natural dynamics of your playing.

At its core, Compadre is built around a high-quality analog VCA compression engine paired with a Class-A JFET input stage, giving it a responsive, amp-like feel with extremely low noise and high headroom. It offers two compression modes: a transparent “Studio” style for smooth levelling and a more aggressive “Squeeze” mode for vintage-style compression and extended sustain.

The boost section is equally flexible, functioning independently from the compressor so you can use either effect alone or stack them together. It provides up to around +14 dB of gain in clean mode, with optional EQ shaping and a selectable “dirty” boost that introduces soft clipping for subtle overdrive character.
