The cabasa is a fascinating percussion instrument that originated in Latin America. In its original form, the rattle consisted of the body of a gourd covered with a net of seeds or beads. The Sela Cabasa, on the other hand, is based on the modern design with a cylindrical head section and a surrounding profiled sheet. This sheet metal is again covered with ten close-fitting metal bead chains, which glide over the grooves in the sheet metal when moved and produce fine, rushing sounds.

Sela Cabasas offer a sturdy and durable construction made of black lacquered pine wood. The handle is additionally covered with soft foam to ensure an excellent grip even during a longer use. Available in two versions with diameters of 60 mm or 115 mm, they offer versatile options for different playing styles and volumes. The many metal beads produce a concise, rattling sound by twisting the handle or shaking the cabasa rhythmically, which blends in perfectly with many different styles of music.

Like the maracas, the cabasa is often used for percussive accompaniment in samba ensembles, jazz bands, pop music and more. Sela cabasas are suitable for both studio recordings and live performances and are aimed equally at beginners as well as experienced musicians. In addition to its use in predominantly Latin American music, the cabasa has also established itself in music education and music therapy. This makes the Sela Cabasas ideal instruments for percussionists, drummers, bands, ensembles and music schools.
