Whether it's a chart-topping hook or a heart-stirring solo, some licks demand the full attention of the Compressor/Limiter CL9. By lifting quieter notes and taming the louder ones, this compact powerhouse smooths out your sound, ensuring consistent, balanced volume. With the CL9 on your pedalboard, you’ll experience endless sustain and rock-solid dynamics!
Dynamics are crucial in music—they convey emotion, whether it’s the smooth flow of a blues solo or the intense pulse of heavy metal. However, uncontrolled dynamics can easily turn your best efforts into a muddled mess. That’s where compression steps in—softening the loudest sounds and boosting quieter ones that might get lost in the mix. The primary role of a compressor is to make each note sound uniform in volume, creating a denser, more impactful signal that retains richness and allows your subtle nuances to shine through.
Ever notice how some strings on your guitar or bass seem louder than others? It’s due to physics—the strings with less mass just don’t produce as much volume as the heavier ones. A compressor levels out the sound of each string, making them all equal in volume. It's also a game-changer for slap bass players, ensuring thumb slaps, string pulls, and muted notes are consistent, giving a tight, percussive effect.
Use the Level knob to adjust the overall output, tweak the Attack for more definition on the initial strum or pluck, and dial in the perfect amount of sustain. The status LED shows you when the CL9 is engaged, and the high-quality on/off switch ensures impeccable signal integrity when bypassed. Power the CL9 with a 9V battery or our PSU-SB DC power supply (sold separately).
