Description
Arturia KeyLab Mk3 88-Key Hammer Action MIDI Controller - Black from Joondalup Music Centre
The KeyLab 88 Mk3 in black is the flagship MIDI controller from Arturia, built for keyboardists who demand piano-feel playability alongside advanced studio and performance control. With a full-sized 88-note hammer-action keybed, expressive aftertouch, and a studio-grade control surface, it bridges the gap between acoustic piano performance and modern music production.
Key Features
- Authentic hammer-action keybed: The unit features a fully-weighted Fatar TP/110 hammer-action keyboard with aftertouch, giving true piano-style feel and dynamic expressivity — ideal for both delicate passages and full-on chord stabs.
- Extensive control surface: A rich set of hardware controls includes touch-sensitive rotary encoders and faders, a large colour display, pads, wheels and DAW transport/clip controls — enabling deep hands-on interaction with software and hardware.
- Creative modes built-in: Features like Scale mode, Chord Play mode and a built-in Arpeggiator with Hold allow you to generate fresh musical ideas quickly and stay in performance flow.
- Connectivity & integration: Equipped with USB-C (bus powered), standard 5-pin MIDI In/Out, pedal inputs (sustain, expression, aux) and deep DAW integration (Ableton Live, Logic, Cubase, Bitwig, etc.).
- Premium build & finish: The black version provides a sophisticated aesthetic that fits studio and stage environments alike, with a robust construction and high-quality materials.
- Software bundle included: Comes with Arturia’s Analog Lab Pro (with thousands of high-quality sounds), Ableton Live Lite, plus other creative tools so you can start producing right away.
Why Choose the Black Finish
Opting for the black finish gives you a sleek, professional look that blends seamlessly into stage rigs or dark-tone studio setups. It maintains the same premium functionality as other finishes, but delivers a more understated aesthetic — ideal for live gigging or studio spaces where equipment needs to recede visually and let your playing stand out.
Ideal Use Cases
- Studio pianists & composers: If you need full-sized 88 weighted keys for nuanced performances, combined with deep software and DAW control, this is well suited.
- Live keyboardists: The hammer-action keys feel authentic for piano or vintage electric-piano parts, and the extensive controls let you manage live set changes seamlessly.
- Hybrid players (piano + synth): Whether you’re running virtual grand pianos or layering synths and pads, the keybed gives you piano-realism and the control surface delivers synth/DAW flexibility.
- Production control centre: Rather than separate controller + piano, this unit gives you a one-integrated instrument + controller system — streamlining your setup and workflow.
The Arturia KeyLab 88 Mk3 in black delivers the best of both worlds: expressive piano-style keyboard feel combined with deep MIDI/DAW control — all packaged in a professional, stage-worthy finish. If you’re looking for a high-end, all-in-one keyboard controller that covers piano playing, studio control and live performance alike, this could be a very compelling choice.
